Posted May 18, 2015 Hi, I am upgrading my HP Pavilion Elite Hpe 510Y with a new ssd as a boot drive since the boot times are terrible. Bad news is they did not give us a windows 7 install disc or key when buying the pc 5 years ago. Is there a way for me to pull the windows 7 that is currently on the hard drive and put it on the ssd without needing to buy a new copy of windows 7? Also will it say I have an incorrect key or that it is null and void? Please Help!
 Posted May 18, 2015 You can just migrate the data from your hdd to the ssd. Moving thread to OS and Software. Posted May 18, 2015 Author I thought about that but can I move just the os over instead of everything because the hard drive that the os is currently on is 1.5 terabytes and the ssd is only 240gb? Some migration programs have the options to only move the OS and programs. You need to quote a post or tag a member or else they won't get a notification you replied to them. I think Macrium Reflect should be able to do that. http://www.macrium.com/ If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/Also, make sure to quote a post or tag a member when replying or else they won't get a notification that you replied to them.
