This is a build I've created and I'm curious to see what others in the community think. It's my first time building and it may be a little overboard but I'm looking for something decently future-proof with some good gaming potential. I'm looking for 1080p resolution performance as well as cosmetic unity. I've done a fair amount of research over the last few months about building in general and more recently about the individual parts I've picked out.

Notes:

*The pieces I'm most curious about are the motherboard and the ram, due to there price point.

*The processor was picked due to my knowledge about it being a very solid pick, but I am open to other suggestions (I was also considering something like an AMD FX 8350 if that would be a good fit)

*Power supply is on there only because I already own and use it currently. If there's something worth going for it'd be great to know.

I'd love any and all feedback, I know this community will tell me if this build is up to snuff!

Thanks!

If you're using the extra features on your mobo it's a nice thing to have, I  geek out over them easily :P As long as the PSU works well you should be fine. If you aren't overclocking the watercooler isn't needed though. (Having low temps is awsome though :D)

Descent build, You could get a GTX 980 in a $1,400 build, but the 970 is still good. Just make sure that if you're playing on higher resolutions like 1440p, I would get an R9 290X.

Get the OS from reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap or if you don't like interacting with people, G2A, they're way cheaper and legit copies.

And i tend to stay away from Seagate drives, they have a much higher failure rate than WD or Hitachi.

Other than that, everything looks good to me.

Well where to start. Well you are doing fine with the CPU, and the motherboard is probably fine as well. I opted for the Asus Hero but the MSI boards have been pretty strong of late. if you have that power supply it will be fine with the GTX970 I would suggest another one but if you can avoid the cost why not right? :) I probably would of gone with the Corsair h100i gtx instead of the nzxt cooler but not a bad choice there. Overall i think one could nit pick at your build but it looks pretty good.

The x61 is proven to be better plus it would look nice with the NZXT case and custom LEDS, if he had corsair case Id choose the corsair aswell :)

Get a decent air cooler instead of a clc.

Get a decent psu as well.

This is all great to know! What would I change if I wanted to do just 1080p?

Also a lot of you are saying to change the psu, duly noted I'd prefer a modular one anyway  B)

CPU Cooler (not necessary, you can pick what you have picked if you want) - http://pcpartpicker.com/part/be-quiet-cpu-cooler-bk019
