How to Stream Downloadable file?

dantheman61

I am looking for a way to stream a video file form the web instead of it downloading. I know I can right click on the link and copy link address and paste it to vlc but it would be nice if I just click the link and it opened in vlc. I am on windows 8.1 and use chrome.

MKV

In firefox at least you can select what happens when you click the media files. Its in settings under File type associations.

VLC's web plugin *should* be able to stream MKV in the browser--you probably just have to set it up.

Its installed with full version of normal player. And like I said, you can manage how browser manages extensions from settings.
