Saw this video on YouTube and I wanted to know. What do you guys think? Should I get this monitor as I am currently in the market for a 16:9 1080p screen for gaming and video editing. (Putting my time line on the 1080 screen and previewing on a second screen that I already own)

In my opinion/experience, 1080p looks horrendous at 27".

if your hardware can handle it, step up to 1440p at the size, if not then step down to somethin like a 24 inch monitor :P

My GTX 960 can handle 4k but I wanted 1080p since most videos and live streams are 1080p and also because my Canon Vixia shoots in 1080p.

Why is that?

The PPI (or DPI) is simply too low unless you intend on sitting in excess of five feet from it.

What games are you playing that a 960 can handle at 4K?

then just stick with a 24 inch screen :P will look better than 27 inch due to the pixels not being stretched further as they would be on 27 inch

In my opinion at 27" 1080p simply looks bad, I can easily get a headache like that. If you're not going to do 1440p or higher don't bother at 27". 1080p can look really good at 23"-24", that would be my recommendation.

If you like that design this is the one you want (1440p) but the price is almost double.

I actually don't mind if it's above what I'm thinking. That's ok.

What games are you playing that a 960 can handle at 4K?

The 960 is designed to handle 4k, but I run two, and I must say odd, res monitors. The current ones I have are the Dell 1907FP 1280x1024. So I've decided to get one big display and keep one of the 1280x1024 monitor to handle small stuff like OBS menu, twitch chat, etc etc.

Also I'm guessing that guy picked a really bad monitor then? Does

then just stick with a 24 inch screen :P will look better than 27 inch due to the pixels not being stretched further as they would be on 27 inch

I already have a 19", I want to go bigger just to feel like I have more space.

I know MegaDave91 said why, but in your opinion which I'd like to know, why does it look so bad? Why are they made if their quality is poor?

I can assure you the 960 is not intended for 4K. It may be capable of playing games like LoL and Dota 2, but it best reside at 1080p.

I had a 24" monitor at 1080p and now I have a 27" monitor at 1080p. It looks completely fine and I consider it an upgrade compared to the 24". I also know several people who also have 27" monitors at 1080p and they don't have a problem with it either.

So that ASUS MX27AQ 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor would be the best bet to use for what I want to do then?

Yes I would get it. I know it's new and there aren't many reviews yet but I tried a 25 inch Asus with the smaller but same spec'd LG panel it uses and everything was amazing. The only reason I returned it was 25 inch 1440P is too small for me. The input lag and response time "felt" even better than my PB278Q and the colors were perfect out of the box.

Well I don't have space for more. I'll just get one and get more when I move out and have an actual desk. Might want to upgrade the video card first.

I have an old Asus monitor that is discontinued, so I can't really recommend it. If you're editing, you probably want an IPS monitor and I recommend taking a 27" over a 24" as it's one of those things where you wouldn't want to go back after using it. You don't want a TN panel as it's not as accurate as IPS for your editing and it's probably going to be 60hz as 1080p 144hz with IPS isn't out yet(but may be at the end of the year). 1440p is a better resolution as it's higher, but it's also more expensive and needs a beefier graphics card to play games on. That's up to you depending on your budget. There is nothing wrong with a 27" monitor with a 1080p resolution like everyone here seems to think there is. Large screen 50"+ TV's are 1080p and they're in quite high demand.

Flawed logic

No one sits 2-2.5 feet from a 50" 1080p TV- or a 50" TV of any resolution for that matter.

2-2.5 feet is a very common distance to be sitting from one's monitor.

I honestly like the ASUS MX27AQ 27-Inch, even though it doesn't have a Vesa mount which my desk (actually a table) isn't a huge deal. That monitor will work for my set up for the time being and I could always upgrade later down the road.

Does it depend on the pixel ratio for 1080p?
