So earlier today I was trying to figure out why my car wouldn't start, and found out that it was the battery, though while in the process of just checking everything over, I noticed that there was a small tube connected to some sort of pump or something that was broken.

I've looked all over in the repair guide for the car but couldn't find anything that said what the motor or pump was for.

My car is a 2000 Chrysler 300M. (Picture is not of my car, but is of the same year and model.)

If needed I can get a picture of it tomorrow, along with a picture of the broken tube.

The car does run now that the battery has been charged (Going to replace it hopefully this weekend), and as far as I know everything is working as it should, though I haven't tested absolutely everything in the car.

Anyone know what this part is called? (If nobody can help then I'll just take it up to a repair shop or something soon)

What is the engine in it.

Should be the stock engine.

3.5L v6 4-speed Automatic.

May be a pump for the windshield washer fluid?

Can you check if the washers work?

I tested that today and it worked perfectly fine.

What is the engine in it.

It seems to serve the same purpose regardless of engine in 300M and predecessing Inteprid. I don't know what it is though.

Check it's not the power steering pump mate.

It's definitely not power steering pump. That runs off the crankshaft.

take a more "wide angle" picture to get an idea of where it is in the engine bay.

As I said, that picture is not mine, though it is of the same year and model of car.

The part in question is in the front area of the engine bay on the drivers side near the outer edge of the car. (The stuff you see in the left side of the provided image is where the engine is)

If it's of any help:

That image might help you a bit :P

Thanks @Speedyv

The fans in the car are fully functional, windshield fluid works, power steering works, braking works.

Though the last time my dad drove it he did say that it pulls to the right a bit, though I'd guess that's just the tires or alignment.

If its broken, I have a solution for you.

Buy a Volvo.

Its only a hose that is broken from what I can tell.

I'll ask my uncle about it once I get the chance. (Got the car from him)

What do I win?

My gratitude.. This would've made me go crazy otherwise

The owners manual just pointed to everything else. And four pages were dedicated to pointing out the stuff around it.

I suspected it had something to do with the throttle body since the cable ran down to where i assumed the throttle body was.. But that's as far as i got

Yea I was going insane as well, being in the auto-body field for over 2 years and cant find out what a part on a passenger sedan does eat away at your brain.

That should be the cruise control solenoid. It uses a vacuum system to hold the throttle control valve in position when you set the cruise control.

That part is probably part of the cruise control system. It is a vacuum actuated throttle linkage I'm pretty sure

So would just replacing the broken hose be all that needs to be done to repair it? assuming that the hose is the only part of it that is broken.

Or would I need to take it in for special tools to be used on it for some crap? (Because I know some parts require that)
