Yea I was going insane as well, being in the auto-body field for over 2 years and cant find out what a part on a passenger sedan does eat away at your brain.

It is infuriating.. Oh well. You learn (or re-learn) something every day

So would just replacing the broken hose be all that needs to be done to repair it? assuming that the hose is the only part of it that is broken.

Or would I need to take it in for special tools to be used on it for some crap? (Because I know some parts require that)

Change the hose first to see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't there might be a problem with the unit.

Shouldn't be too hard to change though. Seems like a bolt in bolt out job^^

Alright, now to find the part number for that hose...

If I lived near you I would fix it for a 12-pack.

If it's the hose that is leaking and IF you can replace just the hose, then yes, you should be able to fix it no problem.

You shouldn't need any specialty tools to do the work, but normally those are designed to be replaced as a whole; hose and solenoid. If you can PM me the specifics of your car (make, model, engine, etc) I should be able to look it up and tell you for sure.

I'll get a picture of it tomorrow and post it on here once I get home from school.

It didn't look like a cable, it looked like a very small tube that either got disconnected from something or was cut/torn somehow, I'd guess the tube is around 5-10mm in diameter, can't say for sure, but it was quite small.

Just shoot me a PM if you want and I'll help you out. I used to work as a mechanic and I do all my own work on my cars. (And a lot of my friends cars, tbh. I should really start charging them, now that I think about it....)

Your a mechanic? How did I not know?

Well i do not work as a mechanic and i dropped out before i could get my cert.

Ended up studying more on my own. I have worked in some garages and helped friends with engine builds and such.

Some day i'll get my certification. Hoping to open a classic car restoration shop

Got some pictures of the tube, looks like it broke off on a part that is hard plastic, though it was really close to where the rubbery tube connects with it, so if I can get the broken piece out of the other tube, then I should be able to fix it myself.

Give me about 2 mins to get the pictures from my phone :P

-snip-

Ok, some diagnostic questions. I'm not having much luck finding info on your car.

To determine if it is the cruise control solenoid:

1) Does your cruise control still work?

2) Do you know exactly where the broken hose connects to?

3) To determine if it is a vacuum line: with the engine running, is there any suction at either the open end of the hose or where the hose should be connected?

My only other initial thought going off the pictures is that it could be the EGR valve, but those are normally mounted directly to the intake manifold.

1. I haven't been able to test it, and probably won't be able to for another couple days. (Waiting on parents to get the title switched over from my uncle's name, and get a new plate for it)

2. Yes

3. I can't check right now, might be able to tomorrow night.

I'd guess it probably is the cruise control solenoid, not a big deal if it is as I'm not likely to use cruise control anyways.
