Can my computer be damaged?

Go to solution Solved by Hazy125,

If it's just the cathode that has died and all your other compnents are functioning as they should then there shouldn't be a need for a concern, however if you plan on replacing the cathode you should try to find out why it blew in the first place. It is likely that you got a BSOD after the cathode exploded due to some kind of electrical surge. But yeah, it shouldn't cause any more damage as long as the problem resides with the cathode itself

Hi.

I was editing some video, and then my cathode just "exploded" and started to smoke, and there was blue flash in my computer, that is why i am worried.

Immediately come BSOD, and then my computer turned off, then it did not boot and i had to change my bios.

Now it is booted, but i am worried if there is some hidden problem.

If that happened I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the PC. Power it off, unplug it from the wall and see if you can spot anything that's wrong. Exploding parts are extremely dangerous.

Setup: i5 4670k @ 4.2 Ghz, Corsair H100i Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB Ram @ 1600 Mhz, MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard, Corsair GS700 2013 edition PSU, MSI GTX 770 Lightning, Samsung EVO 120 SSD + 2TB&1TB Seagate Barracudas, BenQ XL2411T Monitor, Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones + AntLion ModMic 4.0

Unless you have some good soldering equipment and access to really really small electronic components, I'd be looking to see whether or not you're covered by warranty

I am good at computer

I would unplug everything and look for any physical damage.

It is working normally and there is no visible damage exept destroyed kathoide and converter.

I would RMA it to be safe. You wouldn't want it happening again and potentially causing damage.
