Normal temps for NH-D15?

My i7 4790K is running at 4.4 at 70 degrees celsius when folding. Is this normal?

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 1866MHz

GPU: Asus Strix RTX 2060 OC

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Hero 

Storage: 1TB, 500GB, 250GB SSD's, 1TB SSHD

Case: Corsair Carbide Air 540

Yes. anything over 80+ should be an issue.

No this is not normal. First Check If you connected your fans. And how much thermal paste did you apply?

 

Even though you are folding, i would think that the NH D15 would perform better

I just reapplied thermal paste yesterday because of this issue and it didn't really make a difference. And yes the fans are spinning.

At 4.6ghz stress testing my max temp was 67c with my Noctua d15

Then i suppose this is normal. I just can't get my head around it. My scythe Mugen 4 cooler achieved 80 degrees celsius with an fx8350@4.7ghz while running prime95. And that cooler is like 40 bucks.

My much cheaper and smaller cooler keeps it below 70°C on an i7 2600k @ 4.5GHz, how did you apply the thermal paste?

Sandy bridge had 10000xbetter TIM, all old chips run cooler.

Sandy bridge didn't have TIM, they used flux less solder.
