Cooling PC Newbie Build

Hi there. Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I built my first PC 5 years ago. I was quite the newbie back then. I'd still consider myself the same.

Anyway, I've hardly upgraded it since. I've only put in an SSD and a new HDD for storage.

Anyway, to the point. My CPU has been running quite hot at low load recently. I'm using the stock cooler as I didn't factor aftermarket coolers back then. I'm looking into improving the airflow in my case.

I've managed to get a Corsair H100i quite cheaply. I'm also looking into getting some new fans.

My question is, how should I set up the fans and H100i for the best airflow and cooling performance in my case?

Here are my specs:

Case: Coolermaster Cosmos S

Processor: Intel® Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz

Motherboard: Asus Rampage II Extreme X58

Memory: 6 x Corsair Dominator 2GB DDR3 RAM

GPU: Gainward GTX260 Golden Sample

PSU: Corsair 850w CMPSU 850 HXUK

SSD: Samsung 256GB 850 Evo

HDD: 3TB WD Green

1.5TB Samsung HD154 UI

OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium

Thanks guys!!!

Exaust for least dust (I only recommend if you already have good case airflow / static pressure)

Intake for fastest cool down after switching from load to idle imo

Also I recommend two of these fans for great quiet performance :D

Not to sound like an ass, but whenever I see the poo brown of Noctua, I puke a bit in my mouth everytime :D

Same :/

The Industrial version though... look nice, but try a 3000RPM fan at full speed :D

On topic @Paterson37 - do you mind what color they are, or no?

Not really. There's no window panel on my case. Would this be a good fan set up for my case?

Bottom - IN Bottom Front - IN Side Panel - IN Back Top - OUT H100i - IN

Would that be adequate air intake and exhaust fans?

I would switch the top H100i to OUT also, heat in the case rises, so would be better

For the fans, the Noctuas are good, or Akasa Vipers - they have very good airflow when placed against a radiator, because they have high static pressure, which is good :)

Ahh ok. That would still keep the CPU well cooled, yeah?
