Why a full tower? Is the optical drive really necessary?

Why Win7 instead of Win8.1?

I'm trying to build a 1440p/4k gaming rig, and I need a slight price cut on what I have already. If there are any cheaper alternatives to any of my components that won't affect the performance, please let me know

My build:http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/VrR8kL

whats it gonna be for?

Everything is quite conservative with exceptions to the case and ram. 1600Mhz ram is no less better than 1866mhz for gaming.

What games do you play? A single 970 isn't exactly the optimal card for 4K.

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow; Motherboard: MSI ZZ490 Gaming Edge; CPU: i7 10700K @ 5.1GHz; Cooler: Noctua NHD15S Chromax; RAM: Corsair LPX DDR4 32GB 3200MHz; Graphics Card: Asus RTX 3080 TUF; Power: EVGA SuperNova 750G2; Storage: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB; Crucial M500 240GB & MX100 512GB; Keyboard: Logitech G710+; Mouse: Logitech G502; Headphones / Amp: HiFiMan Sundara Mayflower Objective 2; Monitor: Asus VG27AQ

Im not really looking for 4k gaming, it's just that 4k monitors are almost the same price as 1440p monitors

Similarly priced 4K displays tend to be bad 4K displays.

Something like this would be better: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/PqgxmG

Any monitor with a lower response time?

The response time spec is bull and should generally be ignored unless it comes from a in-depth benchmark or review. Most modern displays including that which I recommended have low enough response times that it shouldn't be something to worry about.

Apparently the GTX 970 performs slightly better than the 290x

Is there also a problem with the PSU?

Not at higher res, the R9 290X smokes the 970 at 1440P and higher and you got to consider that the R9 290X card has 8GB VRAM vs GTX 970 3.5GB/4GB Vram.
