"RAID" wifi adapters

Go to solution Solved by themctipers,

apparently there was a mixup between me and my neighbors internet so my isp came and fixed it. now im enjoying 1080p with no buffering.

ok so i have this old aspire 5570 laptop and it uses wireless g built in and atm im using an dlink 150mb usb wifi adapter. is there a way i can "raid" these 2 togeather so i can have a 150megabit + 54 megabit so i can get ~204 megabit link? ATM on my usb adapter im getting ~1 megaBIT link (windows 8 task manager) and im paying for 30 megabits download speed from my isp.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Generally speaking, you can't bond wireless links for aggregated throughput.

Also, the task manager displays the average throughput, not the link speed. You can check the link speed by right clicking the network icon in the taskbar and opening the Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking the connection name/SSID to bring up the connection status:

Note: The link speed is only on your for your WLAN speed. It has nothing to do with what your ISP provides.

I'm not sure this I even possible because in a (W)LAN network redundant paths get's disabled and can not be used to boost the performance. I guess it will require a exotic configuration and a lot of knowledge to do it. I think it's not worth the effort, because your internet doesn't get any faster.

Actually, it is possible if using two different SSIDs/APs and by using actual network equipment or *nix networking packages or enterprise level hardware.

But link aggregation to the same router isn't generally possible on consumer equipment and wouldn't make sense. You get more throughput by having less clients connected to an AP anyway, it'd be counter intuitive to drop the link speed by adding an extra client only to aggregate the links. It would also increase ping/latency times.

It's really not worth banding wireless controllers.

Something's wrong with your Wi-Fi setup. Is the connection okay to other devices at the same distance?

Yes i have an iPad air and i can watch youtube fine at 1080p without buffering but on my laptop it buffers for like 5 minutes at 720p;. If anything helps i do have a dlink wireless ac wireless router.

link speed is 150mb as i said. adverage throughput though is 1 megabit. i pay $90/month for 30 megabits download and I am getting 29 megabits on my ipad when im at the exact same place. I also do have a iphone 4 but i again am getting around 15megabits not 1 megabit. (ipad and iphone speeds are from speedtest app)

I dont really care about adding ping time im watcing youtube on this thing since it cant even play my steam games or minecraft.

lol i actualyl do have 2 routers and i only have 4 clients connected to my wifi., desktop, ipad, iphone and laptop.

EDIT: desktop is off, ipad is disabled. iphone im not using atm and im on my laptop.

What are you using to measure your average throughput and how?

I do :D

i use speedtest on my apple devices and i use task manager on my laptop.

speedtest on my laptop doesnt work ; it just crashes my laptop.

Don't use the task manager. It shows the peak/average throughput of a small time period as a function of link utilization. Mine currently shows 100kbps as the link utilization is near 0%.

Try using this to test your throughput on a modern browser (Firefox/Chrome): http://speedof.me/

all the tests are 5 megabits and then on test 9 it crashes on chrome D: (it goes white screen and then it refreshes the page)
