Yep.

so you usually you should sit at around 72°C.

Has it always been this high?

Are both fans still running?

Did you OC the card?

Whats you ambient temp?

Well usually it's around 78- 81. But like, It never goes over 81. Is that bad?

Ambient temps is 20 and card is factory OCed. All fans in my PC are at max.

If I remove my dust filters il have amazing temps but I am scared of dust... :(

You are probably hitting the thermal limit. check it in Afterburner or Precision.

But should I be concerned if it sticks to 81? Is it a bug, could the temp actually be higher? I still get steady 60 FPS in my games.

It's under load. But still, it's weird it thermal throtles at 81 when the limit of NVIDIA is like 96. Should throttle at 90 IMO.

Took of all my dust filters and no change.

I'm just gonna butt in real quick: I forgot to change the fan speed on my 480 from 40% to 70%, and it hit 105C. Never throttled.

Anyways, I'm not sure if it's a bug or some thermal limit. The fact that it sticks to that is weird.

The thermal limit is around the mid 90c range but GPU boost usually throttles the card around 80-85c.

If you use something like MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision can bump that throttle point up.

Past a point raising the fan speed doesn't improve GPU cooling very much if at all.

81 is fine though.  Modern GPU's are perfectly fine below 90 degrees.

If you raise the power limit that should stop the throttling.

Ok I found out how to raise temp limit. You activate Power Target and GPU Temp Target. Now, since it's throtling, it's holding back power right? So I am like wasting my money, right?

As long as the card doesn't hit 95 you should be good.

But it is unsual @ Factory clock that is a tad unsual.

I will probs limit the temps to 83 with a 75% fan. Sounds good and at 83, can it withstands like 12 hours straight?

It should. 83C is acceptable for a modern gpu. My card doesn't change temperature under load when I increase my fans from 65 to 100 percent fan speed.

My card is a blow and I can game 9 - 13 hours straight (AMD 6970).

If you are really worried you can make a custom fan curve would be louder than usual but I think if you are concerned custom fan curve is the best way and GPUs are stress tested like CPUs at 100% for large amounts of time so 83 is all right I assume you are running Air cooled?

But like I said, even if I set my fans to 100% it keeps going to 81.

Sounds like a case airflow problem. If all your fans are doing is blowing around hot air without giving it a place to go, it's not going to help to speed them up. What case are you using, and how are your case fans positioned?

More fans and try and replace the thermal paste and if possible the VRAM thermal pads.

Sounds like you got a dodgy pre-applied Thermal paste :)
