That's why I had to ask. It's on Amazon. I've already contacted the seller about how the warrenty works, because I thought the same myself. He just hasn't messaged me back yet.

I'd wait for more responses. I've never purchased anything refurbished.

It can be worth it. I got a refurbed ADA 995 speaker system and it's lasted years upon years.

The thing about refurbs is that if they don't die right away I'm sure it will be fine. Thus the 180 day warranty.

Push it hard within the first month and if it holds you could be ok and have gotten a great deal.

Hi everyone. I have to ask is it smart to buy a refurbished graphics card from the manufacturer with a 180 warranty? I mean it could save me almost $100 buying refurbished, or is it unwise to do such a thing?

Thanks for any and all feedback.

It's really a crap shoot. Can I ask what card this is?

What is this cook mining I hear about?

It's an online currency which you get paid by solving complex problems.

People usually use AMD cards to run them for 24hrs.

Well I got my email from the seller.

Cody,

Good question. Yes, card is an official MSI refurbished product refurbished by MSI and resold on Amazon. 180 day MSI warranty is built-into serial # of the video card. Warranty is a replacement warranty so within 180 days of purchase you may request a replacement video card if your is faulty for any reason. You may contact MSI, or myself if you ever need service (We have direct access to MSI warranty services).

Sincerely,

Ben

180 day warranty? Sounds sketchy to me.

Any used or refurbed parts are going to come with a short warranty. A lot are 30 days as well. 180 days is actually a pretty long warranty for a refurbed part, IMO.

As for the OP, I bought a used 7950 awhile back and have had no problems. It's a gamble, no doubt, but it can be worth it.

I guess this is a case of you're gonna get what you pay for.

You can always check out that seller's feedback and ratings. If they have a history of bad feedback it might not be a good idea to buy from him. BTW I've bought tons of refurbished equipment computer related and not and they've lasted me several years before finally kicking the can.

I've actually been in contact with the seller back and forth today. Very high positive feedback for the last few years. I think I'm gonna do it and see what happens.
