Crosshair IV extreme, does it support ddr3 1866mhz ram?

Does the Asus Crosshair IV Extreme support 1866mhz ram?
looked up its info on the webz and it does say 
DDR3 2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 ECC,Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory

would be nice to know as id love to upgrade my ram.
would be a shame not upgrading the ram when im planning to upgrade the cpu and som other parts

That really is a waste of money..

There are considerable performance gains from 1333 to 1866, though.

Yes, negligible gains in synthetic memory speed tests, and no noticeable difference in ANY benchmark that actually attempts to show overall system speed.

The ONLY time that faster RAM actually makes a difference is if you are running an AMD APU instead of a discrete GPU.

Don't waste your money on faster RAM, save up for a better GPU or CPU.

The amount of bandwidth gain is everything but negligible. But yeah, no point in upgrading memory just because it runs on a faster frequency.

as i said in my first post, i am planning on updating the whole system. not just memory.

i would be getting the Amd FX-9590 and im currently running the system with a titan-x or a strix 970 if id like to.

APU = advanced processing unit (I believe) and that what AMD calls its CPU's that have GPU's built in.

Discrete GPU = ANY graphics card. ie. a GTX 980, or R9 280x, TITAN or heck, a Radeon x1300.

 

Basically, if you have an actual graphics card in your system, an upgrade in RAM speed will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for you. However if you have an APU and no other graphics card installed, then you would notice an increase in framerates for gaming with faster RAM, since APU's use your system RAM and do not have VRAM of their own like a standard graphics card has.

However, if you have 4 GB or less, bumping it up to 8 GB or more may improve your performance, depending on what you are using the computer for.

aok, now it made sence for me. thx! :) 

well then i guess upgrading my ram whont do much. but il still replace my old Phenom t1100. starting to feel like its dieing as im experiansing some wird stutter blur ingame and small screen freezes even tho fps does not move under 60-59 fps ever :D
