My PC has recently gotten a major fan upgrade (total of 8 motherboard controlled fans) and it runs SILENT. It is really quite quiet even while folding on full. However, one of my graphics cards has derped. It doesnt fold, wont crossfire, and stays cold. It has power, the fans on it are running, and obviously it is plugged into the motherboard. Can anyone spot anything wrong here? http://i.imgur.com/DX8tlK9.png

your monitor is freaking huge. your gpu is at 77c idle or load?

Full load on F@H after about 10 min. But the other isnt doing anything. Also it is 3 syncmaster 204b monitors in an eyefinity setup.

ooh thats going to be fun. The rear exhaust fans are ziptied in place and are covering the end of the cards. Didnt think that through lol

"Did you try turning it on and off sir?"

yes. Reboots and double checking the 12v rail on the cards and everything is still the same.

I swapped the cards around and the one that was on top was now on the bottom and then it didnt work. a driver reinstall fixed it and I have been folding for an hour on both cards without issues. I can fix surface mount parts on things (as long as the solder joint isnt under anything) and if you know what went pop, I could fix it for you. I had a faulty cable blow up my motherboard and it is back in working condition.

Buy Multicore .7mm solder and Electrolube Flux and you can solder like an expert. I replaced a SOT-23 part that exploded on mine and it looks like new.

What card was it? I have lots laying around, perhaps I might have the same one. My HD6950 Directcuii doesnt work but I cant pin down why, as the whole thing looks fine.

Doesnt look too bad. If part numbers are hard to read, smudge some thermal paste on them and the number becomes easy to read.

the problem with mine is where to start... http://images.ht4u.net/reviews/2011/asus_radeon_hd_6950_directcu_2_test//board_big.jpg

under that heatsink is a row of vregs. My guess is that a mosfet popped on yours because mosfets usually release the magic blue smoke upon failure. The magic blue smoke is what electronics run on. when it is released, they dont work anymore lol
