Transfer widows 8 between two hard drives?

So i was wondering, is there some way to transfer windows from a computer that has windows 8 to an SSD/ hard drive? I currently have windows 8 on my laptop and i don't want to have to buy windows 8 when i build my desktop next month.

or nm not sure if it will work with a different system

the system might make u re-register.

but if u got cd key just use phone in option and say u have 1 computer, it will let u authenticate again lol last time i checked anyway

get the key off the laptop with magic jelly bean

 

you won't be able to use the key on the laptop anymore tho

you will then have to download windows 8 iso file and install to the desktop with the laptop key...

Make a mirrow image of the HDD and load that to the SSD

I found a spot on the Microsoft website where you can download the OS  for free. it downloads this program that allows you to transfer it to a flash drive or save it to a ISO file. I believe you need a CD key to access the OS though and these can be purchased online.
