I do not know what is causing them and I really need to. They've been happening a lot more recently, and it's pissing me off. I even downclocked my Pentium and left the voltage up. Nothing is overheating either.

It would appear that some kind of hardware/software issue is causing the BSOD's. Whocrashed can help you figure out what.

Then these errors could be a matter of fine tuning the voltages until they are stable.

It may(unusually so) be the CPU becoming degraded, and unable to hold the clock... or maybe a recent program that you installed or updated doesn't communicate well with your OC.

0x101 usually indicates unstable RAM, have you made sure you've got the correct voltages for your RAM? It can also mean that the CPU overclock is just ever so slightly unstable, and a slight bump in voltage can fix it, but check your RAM settings first and see if the settings in the BIOS match what is printed on the sticks.

And 0x124 usually indicates an unstable overclock. Even though you've bumped the OC down a touch, the processor may still be suffering damage due to the OC (overclocking degrades the transistors in a process called quantum tunneling which slowly kills a CPU even at stock speeds, it happens much much faster when the CPU is running out of spec such as when overclocked) which causes the CPU to require more voltage to maintain the same OC, so try upping the voltage on the CPU by 0.01V without changing the clock speed and see if it continues to happen.

101: RAM is set nice and tight.

124: That most certainly is not the problem. That happens over a much longer time span than just 6 months, unless you're pushing obscene amounts of voltage into the chip.

You'd be surprised at how quickly overclocking causes issues, and is this your g3258 rig? I'm assuming it is cause you were running at 4.6 on the CPU. What voltage where you running when you had it at 4.6? about 1.2ish volts or less? If so then I'd agree, you'd need a lot longer than 6 months to degrade a CPU, but if it was much more than 1.35V on that chip you'll start running into quantum tunneling within that time frame.

But more likely the issue is that you bumped down the voltage too much, and taking it back up a touch would fix it. I had my 2500K at 4.5GHz at 1.28V when I first built this system, and after about 6 months I needed to take it up to 1.295V to keep it stable, it now needs 1.315V to stay at 4.5, and even then it can be a bit unstable at times, CPU's are at their best within about 4 months of first use, after that they rapidly lose out on their ability to OC, especially with newer CPUs, older gen CPUs could deal with high voltages much better than new stuff can.

I think it's probably degradation, and now that it's at stock I'm confident that you'll no longer have those issues, 1V is a lovely voltage level to run at when stock on a G3258, you might be able to get it down to 0.95 if you're lucky though.

But I personally would try setting the voltage to 1.185V and bump the multi until it starts crashing and then back it off a multi or two, you should get about 4GHz at that voltage easily and 4GHz is nothing to sniff at, but that's up to you, it'd be a shame to not overclock a G3258, and I would love one just to mess about with and see what it could do. (Although I still prefer 775 and 1156 CPUs for overclocking, they're so much fun to overclock)

You've got some awesome rigs btw, I'd especially love to play about with Helios, I haven't touched a P3 system in about 3 years, and that was a only prebuilt, so I'd love to have a go with it and just nerd out over some classic hardware :D

You've got some awesome rigs btw, I'd especially love to play about with Helios, I haven't touched a P3 system in about 3 years, and that was a only prebuilt, so I'd love to have a go with it and just nerd out over some classic hardware :D

I plan on getting a Xeon sometime soon (paychecks = small), so I'm not all that worried. And I never get time to game really anyways.

And thanks. :P I never really use it that much, but I might put it in to replace my Dell which I tried to get going as a media/radio PC (using my radio tuner over the line in).

I know what you mean about small paychecks heh, I need to upgrade my current rig to at least a Z97 Core i7, or even better a 2011 rig cause I'm getting into all sorts of video editing, photo repair and dabbling in programming and my current rig just isn't cutting it but I have absolutely no money to do it, and my upgrade itch is playing up really badly and I need to satisfy it before I go mad :D

You're welcome, and that sounds like an awesome idea to make a radio tuner out of a computer, but you would have been better using a TV tuner card and hook it up to an indoor radio antenna, cause they can receive Radio broadcasts on both AM and FM frequencies, or at least some of them can.

Great minds think alike.  ;)

I'm upgrading from my G3258 for GTA V (and so that other games like ETS and Insurgency run better) and faster video renders.
