My bedroom ceiling is white, and slightly textured (will smooth for the projector though), the estimated distance for the projector would be ~3-4ft from the ceiling. the purpose is so can watch shows on crunchyroll, youtube, and vessel while lying down (sometimes by back hurts and I have to lay down, but I get bored easily, and my neck gets strained easily from looking to the side). so what I need is a projector that can output an image on the celing about the size of a 30in tv, have decent enough color reproduction to not ruin the experience, at least bright enough to handle a single 40w incadescent bulb and not destroy the projection, and lastly allow me to angle it so it shows on the ceiling.

if there are links preferably amazon (amazon store card, and linus refferal link), or ncix (I trust them alot). if there are any questions I would be glad to answer, personally it will be my first projector purchased so im not very knowledgeable on them. thanks in advanced and sorry for the long post.

sorry forgot that part, preferably $250-350 or lower (before shipping), more if it is a great upgrade for not much more, like a 1tb drive to a 2tb, or 4gb 1333Mhz ddr3 to 8gb 1600Mhz.

keep in mind the ~3-4ft from the celing, which is where the projection is going to be (so it has to be able to sit at a 45-90 degree angle to point up at the celing.)\

also if possible the lower weight the better since my room is downstairs (cooler thus better place to sleep in summer in a house with no ac), and in order to mount much weight i would have to drill into the concrete foundation.

lastly its resolution doesn't need to eb 1080p, 720p would do since I just have to make out the subtitles reasonably.

30inch 480p looks like ass. I would just buy a tv if I were you, or save up for a good projector, then you can reuse it for watching better things aswell.

the whole point is to have the video on the ceiling, my ceiling cannot support a tv unless it was less than 4.5lbs. also im still used to using a 360p 45" CRT , since only just a month ago the main tv (where i watched most movies and such) was replaced with a 35" flatscreen.

some of the benq 3d projectors are able to do 720p @ 120hz in 2d

id suggest that

is there any specific ones you had personal experience using that you would recommend since personal experience trumps to me.

i just remember my brother bought a projector from radio shack about 4-5 years ago, it was around ~10" wide, ~8" deep, and ~6" tall without stand it was for less than $150 I can't find any record of brand or model #, but a small projector like that is something im looking for, does anyone know of one like that?

Sry man - i have a benq projector actually - but one that does 720p @ 60.

I just heard that there are 120hz 720p ones out there for not too crazy money. And there are like 2 or 3 1080p ones that will do 120hz... for crazy money tho.

One thing i can give you advice from personal xp: if you are going to get a projector, get a DLP one; the colors are insanely good and its very bright, all other projector techs are garbage compared to DLP. Laser projectors have sick colors too, but they flicker like mad.

Also. Few words on response time:

ALL LCD`s have around 10ms pixel response time. That "1ms gtg" advertised is the fastest color shift (grey to grey) measurement under heavy overdrive. All other color shifts are only worse under that heavy overdrive. And if you even used that much overdrive you would have clearly visible bright inverse ghosting going on.

BUT: the three technologies which are in fact GOOD for enjoying motion are:

CRT = 0ms pixel response time for ALL color shifts equally

DLP (projector) = 1ms pixel response time for ALL color shifts equally

OLED = 0.01ms pixel response time for ALL color shifts equally

Since CRT burns eyes and is too small and dead. And since OLED is way too expensive. The best way to enjoy motion right now is in fact a DLP projector.

I have a BENQ W750, the picture looks insane, id compare the colors to the best IPS monitors. Its 720p 60hz.

Its laptop-sized..., i never thought of it as huge; but i guess it is.

If you are looking for small projectors, you want to search amazon for "pico projector" and by the looks of it there are a lot of small DLP projectors.
