So there seems to be quite a lot of rumours going around about the GTX 980ti but I was wondering do you guys think that we will ever see a gtx 990?

In the past the X90 series of cards have been dual cards made up of 2 of there highest end cards so do you think that there would be a 990 perhaps made up of 2 possible 980ti.

Now i'm not saying this is going to happen I just want to know your guys opinion on it.

I don't think they'll put two 980s on a single card. And I don't have the money for one anyway..

Nope because they want people to buy sli 980's for more money.

But they might do like the R9 295X2 was so you could actually have one 980 and a 990 in sli with each other and the put a water cooler on it.

With the maxwell architecture, a dual gpu card is far more doable, due to the lower power consumption, and heat output of the core, however if they were to do a "990" it would most likely be 2 titan x's, but since they dont exhibit the power efficiency, and low heat output of its maxwell brothren, it would be unlikely once more.

And i probably wont touch them with a 6 foot pole, because of the price tags that nvidia had been putting in their dual gpu cards (especially the titan z)

And their past record with dual gpu card isn't great anyway.

Cough Titan z Cough.

They did do the 690 in the past and the titan z wasn't really a gaming card was it.

I highly doubt it, as the 980ti should be coming out within the next few months. (According to rumors)

I personally don't think they will do a dual 980 card, but if Nvidia does it would probably release in the next 6-8 months, but again I have my doubts. The only argument  for it (beside mITX builds) is that It's been proven that duel gpu's are better for oculus/Vive side-by-side VR. However, there is no reason why people can't just buy 2 seperate cards of their choice (like 970's instead of 980's) and do SLI that way for VR.

imo, duel 980 card is unlikely. I would expect to see Asus dual cards however, in 960 and 980 form.

They might do some complete water-cooled card just like amd did with the 295X2 and they have been trying out watercooled cards with the watercooled 980.

Doubt we'll see a GTX990 (dual core), I think Nvidia realised a while ago they don't make a whole lot of sense other than to say "look at how powerful this single card is".

I think there are 2 more Maxwells coming though but based on new silicon rumoured to be the GTX980ti and GTX980 metal which would be logical, one with all shaders unlocked and one with a partial unlock to improve yields.

I mean due to the architecture they are using at the moment can't remember the name of it doesn’t produce much heat having it in a watercooled setup really makes sense.
