Hello,

I've been recently browsing the market for a new motherboard because I just received some new amazing Corsair ram sticks. Although, if I was to install all four of them in my system, I believe that it would exceed the ram limitations for my OS: Windows 8.1 Professional 64bit

It would be 64 gigs of RAM; if I chose to install them.

So, my question is, what is the RAM limit to my OS?

Any answer would be appreciated. Thanks.

There isn't one. Your processor and motherboard are your limiting factors.

EDIT: To clarify for future readers, your is referring to the OP, and his 64GB of RAM. he is using an x64 OS, meaning there isn't a limit in his scenario. There might be if he exceeded exceeded that. Also, as stated by @Abdul201588 in his image, all x86 (aka 32-bit) Windows OS's have a limit of 4GB.

It won't exceed your OS.

64 bit OS' have theoretical support for 2^64 bytes of ram, or ~18 exabytes. 18 exabytes = 18 billion gigabytes.

you cant have 64 gigs on your platform, also Win 7 supports 8GB, win7 home premium supports 16gb and the others 64 or 128gb is think

Why can't he?

I have 64gb in my workstation on 8.1 pro, and I believe 7 had the same for all 64bit ones.... I'm missing this limitation

Currently amount of slots and capacity of sticks is more limiting factor. With newer windows, Win7 Starter, Home Basic and Home Premium have limits, as you have said. Others aren't capped that easily.
