1440p Moniters

Go to solution Solved by CapricaBuccaneers,

Based on the system in your profile, I'd say most likely yes, 970 SLI will be enough to handle most things you throw their way @ 1440p.

If u gonna game on both then I guess sli 970 or 980 perhaps Titan X because SlI isn't good for every game....

I planning on ordering 2 25" 1440p monitors. I'm not sure if my current graphics card solution will work. Any ideas?

depends on the game and your system, cant say more without additional information ;)

What isn't it good for? More to the point, how is it worth the cost of nearly four GTX 970s just for the (alleged) odd game that doesn't get on with SLI?

I don't recommend gaming on two monitors at any rate. With three monitors the bezels are off to the sides, it's like playing inside a cockpit. With two monitors your bezel is right in the middle of the focus of the screen. It's not enjoyable at all.

@skullbringer my current build is on my profile.  :)

4GB of VRAM are decent for 1440p gaming.

I never had SLI but most of people i follow on YouTube do say that SLI support isn't that great and u do run into issues with some games.

I totally agree with u on gaming on two monitors, its silly and would drive me mad.

The only games I could see it work on are games like Diablo (top down world). But 970s would be waste for that.

OP didn't mention gaming but some of us assumed that's the goal.

At 1440p single monitor gaming yes. Dual 1440p with 970s not so much.

Well I have had SLI. I've exclusively had SLI since 2011 and the only game I've had trouble with is GTA IV.

Funny how everyone I've ever seen go on about how unsupported SLI is have never actually used it, or used it a decade ago.

A reasonable assumption, otherwise a GT 740 would do -- anything with more than one port.

Everything should be better on DX12. I'm wondering if Linus will start recommending SLI over one powerful GPU then :)

He already does when it makes sense. He's always advised two 970s, two 780s or two 290s over their marginally better, more expensive single GPUs.

The times it doesn't make sense is when you're buying two 760s, which is almost always more expensive than a 780 and has a severe vram discrepancy with the power of the dual GPUs.

As it is I'm content with the 80-90% scaling dual GPU SLI generally offers. I can't speak for Crossfire.
