G710+ doesn't work pre-boot? WTH?

Skrizzles

Hey guys, I just had a power surge. Lights flickered, power went out long enough to shut down computer. Power comes back on and I hit power. The screen about windows did not shut down properly comes up. I figure whatever, I'll just "start windows as normal." But it doesn't work. There's no response. I try the arrow keys, still nothing.

The timer counts down and windows restarts as normal. Eevrythings fine. But, my G710.

Does it not work pre-boot? Can I no longer hit "delete" during boot  to go into bios?

Am I missing drivers or something?

EDIT: Yep. Just tried it. No response during boot. Can't hit delete to go into bios.

Have you tried with a different keyboard, a non "gaming" one? Preferably PS/2?

I'm pretty sure drivers don't load until you're in the OS. I know using my USB keyboard, I have to wait a moment before I can get into the BIOS (usually I just spam the key so I don't miss it, I like to consider it a quick time event). PS/2 keyboards won't experience this issue, iirc.

Try it with another computer, and try another keyboard with your PC.

For troubleshooting a PS/2 keyboard works best, so if you can use one of them.

Reset BIOS settings to enable support for legacy USB on bootup.

Don't use front connections. Use rear USB connectors directly off the motherboard.
