Would this work?

Go to solution Solved by Captain_WD,

So Os migration question.

Im Moving from a HDD to SSD Thats fine but my question is migrating the os. Could I use the re-installation drive to install the os on the SSD, And could i use the same product key?

And how could I Remove the os from the hdd?

Thanks.

Hey Go_On_Shadow,

I would also go ahead and suggest not to migrate your OS, but simply do a fresh install. Which OS are you using? You might need to contact your OS manufacturer if the specific OS requires it.
If you want to avoid reinstalling everything, I could also suggest considering creating a system image of your boot partition and restoring it with a System Repair Drive on the SSD. This should preserve all your OS settings, registry and all other installed applications on that partition. yeah dont migrate your HDD to the SSD

the best way is to install windows normally, activate it with your windows key, then plug in your HDD and drag your files over to the SSD

As long as you have enough space on the SSD that is equal to your boot partition, you should be fine. That is, if your current C drive is equal or smaller than the SSD. :) If not, simply delete some of the files and programs that you don't necessary need from your boot partition and then create the system image.
