Case with 420W psu

Are you saying it's a case that comes with a power supply? Most PSU's that are included with cases are junk. Maybe better to get a separate case and PSU.

Saving money. Case isn't important

Please don't get those crappy PSUs that don't even give the right wattage. They will most likely do harm to your system...

No, but the PSU is. Most of those OEM ones that come with cases can't even deliver their rated power. Some lack proper protections and can take things out with them when they go. Some have even been known to cause fires.

Skimp on the case, sure. Don't skimp on a PSU.

Pin down a power supply from a reputable manufacturer. The ones that come with the case in most cases are crud. I'll say this: I found I had a lot less blue screens once I replaced my cheapy $35 case-and-power-supply combo with separate case and 80 PLUS Bronze-rated power supply. And a decent PSU isn't expensive anyways; if you have a case you can reuse, spend the money you would have spent on a case with included PSU on a decent power supply. You could always try this one:

Trust me, it's worth spending a few extra dollars to get a quality power supply rather than a cheapy.

no case isnt super importaint but you can get a case that wil breath well (something that is importaint) and a PSU that wont murder your comp for ballpark 70ish I know you can get corsair ones for about $30.

Seriously, im not playing when I say this DONT skimp out on your power supply. Power isnt something to fuck around with http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tVMjXL

I also wanna say its not uncommon for these no name PSUs to either A) be making up a totally BS wattage output or B ) it can maintain its max output for a matter of a femtosecond and not a moment longer. please do it right and save a bit more and get something proven, in my link above you can even go cheaper on a case if need be.

It doesnt matter what your power supply is rated at, but some cheap power supplies (specifically case included ones) fluctuate like crazy and go spastic. It isn't something you can see without using a proper psu test, but once your system components start carking it there's a problem.

oc3d tv covers the issue here in further detail.

Moral of the story: dont cheap out on your power supply. At all.
