I bought a gts450 from ebay which had an over sized cooler with no fans. Worked ok for films and stuff but not really enough cooling for games. Most graphics crads will have some way to change the fan curve, maybe just get any card and keep the fans running as slowly as possible.

It can be done with any 900 series, if you're willing to fiddle around. Theres a guide to it here :) (also i think linus made a video of it)

If not then have a look at asus's Strix line of 900 series cards :) they do it out of the box. (a 960 perhaps?)

Also; there are custom fan profiles in MSI afterburner, but i dont think they can have a 0% fan mode.

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

What is the purpose of your htpc? If its just for video streaming then you overbuilt the CPU and RAM and integrated gpu should work fine. The GPU will be restricted by your case and PSU.

The case you have chosen makes it difficult to install many GPU options because of the limited space that is provided for the expansion card. It needs to be low profile and 1 slot thick. Maybe something like the GT 720 or 730, which isn't much of a performer.

You will also have to consider thermal throttling of the processor. Look at the reviews to see my point. If you wanted a performance fanless HTPC with good gpu support, you chose the wrong case.

They also missed the case. That PSU can work just fine with a very low end GPU and CPU, but would be tight and your point is a valid given the K processor.

I think there are 750 Ti's with fanless (passive) cooling

Here are lot of options, https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/video-card/#F=1&sort=d8&page=1&qq=1

Any reason for not using onboard graphics?

Sapphire R7 250E Ultimate is the highest-end fanless GPU out-of-the-box.

You could try other fanless coolers which can be mounted on GPUs however that will most likely void the warranty.

Look at his case. I don't think any of those suggestions will work.

a low profile 750ti should just fit, and maybe you can mod the bios to have a 0 rpm fan

but overall the intergrated gpu would do more than fine in most htpc environments

Whoops, missed that, thanks.

It seems that there is some space for a card.  (up to 230mm long).

However I do think that a low profile 750ti is a good idea, as mentioned (the 960 does seem like a big squeeze and may not have much room to breadth, not to mention power consumption, the 750ti takes 25 watts less). Ontop of that Asus also make a 0db version of the 750ti, which suits Mr.OP :)

Problems: Fit. Airflow. PSU

Aren't the 750ti's (with fans) LP all more than one slot thick?

Aren't the 750ti's fanless either not low profile or are also more than one slot thick?

There is little to know airflow in the pcie area. There is not enough ventilation and airflow around the pcie area to cool a 750ti, fan or fanless.

A 750ti and that k processor will be pushing that PSU pretty hard.

Look at that case again. I believe those expansion slots are meant for tuner cards or bottom end gpus.

you're right, it would be a fun experiment though :)

but in that case (hehe get it :P) just stick with intergrated graphics

It seemed to be a double slot space, but again, I think you may be right saying there won't be much space for it.

The biggest problem would be the power I'd assume. And then the thermal throttling. I'd be very curious to see how a card like that would do in such a case.

In that case though I think the iGPU will do the trick. He could do the extra all gpu thing, but that'd somewhat render the point of a htpc moot :P

The only fanless 750ti I know is the Palit kalmX and it is like a 3 slot card

If you are not gaming with this HTPC, just use the integrated graphics since they are not something to laugh about and pick a less expensive cpu. The 4690k is excessive. A i5-4460 or a 4440 would make more sense

butterfish beat you to it by 3+ hours. I also mentioned this. We are waiting to hear back from the OP I believe.

the gtx 750 is 20 cm long and the case supports up to 23 cm. why would it not work?

1. Its full width card, it can only support low profile.

2. Its likely too thick to fit in the case. It might fit but that would be a strong might.

3. There is no airflow in that area so even if it did fit, it may not have enough airflow to stay cool.

Please actually look at the case. It even says low profile in the specifications.

These aren't fanless: they'll still kick in when you load the thing.

Anyone I think this is the best you can get for fanless. (Don't even think it will fit in that case)

It's also just about the only thing that will run on that PSU/CPU config.

To be honest, that's an iGPU case.  It's really not meant to house a dGPU.

I agree it is suppose to be a igpu case. Streamcom does make cases that support a dgpu though. The best fanless I believe is actually the 750ti, but both that and your 750 example will not fit. That case only takes low profile cards.
