Which one of Asus!

Hey Guys,

I'm almost done my build and I'm hesitating between 2 motherboards. The Asus Z97-Pro (WiFi AC) and the Asus Maximus VII Hero. Which one would you guys choose? There's only 1$ difference where I will purchase it, so it really comes to which one is the best. Open to suggestions!

There's my build:

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 1 4GB GDDR5
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO (Wi-Fi AC) or Asus Maximus VII Hero
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250GB
Hard Drive HDD: Western Digital Black 1TB
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 750W 80 Plus Gold
DVD Player/Burner: ASUS (DRW-24F1ST/BLK/B) Internal 24x DVD Writer
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Nepton 240M
Fans: Corsair Air Series AF120 x2
Monitor: Asus VG248QE 144hz
Case: Fractal Design Define R5

Thanks!!

MAXIMUS VII Hero. I have it in my current PC and it's pretty dam good looking and has tons of features that are pretty neat even if I don't use all of them.

I'm not SAV1OUR. Maximus. ROG boards are fantastic and the only time I had a problem with one is when I dropped it off the balcony and it bent a pin.

(It's OK i fixed it though)

That's not supposed to do that....

-SNIP-

Between the two they are both excellent boards but the only different I believe is the lack of Sata Express on the ROG Hero board and the option for thunderbolt compared to the Z97-Pro. I personally own a Z97-Pro and have no complaints on it other than the gold accent which I recolored.

Get the Hero if you want red in your system!

I was going with the Coller Master Nepton 240M but its hard to keep that logo in white, its tempting to go with the Corsair to change the color of the Pump light logo.

What's the difference with the sata express and normal sata? I will only have one SSD and one HDD. Whats Thunderbolt?

Sata express isn't out yet to the consumer market widely at least for SSD which will run at higher than the regular 6Gb/s on Sata III, I believe sata express was 10Gb/s, someone correct me if I'm wrong. As for thunderbolt it's Apple's connector that they partnered with Intel for mass storage drives and data, I personally don't use it and it does require an add in card for it to be functional.
