Hi all,

I built a new computer around Christmas time and have been experiencing an issue. Occasionally, on a fresh boot-up (cold boot), the screen will display as the attached image (a checkerboard pattern). However, once I restart (I usually do this immediately after seeing the issue), the display will be back to normal. Is this issue related to SLI, or power issue?

My system specs is as below:

Windows 8.1

i7-5820K (oc turbo boost to 4.2ghz, but dynamic clock still enabled, so downclock still on idle)

MSI X99 Sli Plus Motherboard

2 * Asus Strix GTX 970 in SLI

2 * 8GB DDR4

2 * Intel 730 480GB SSD

Hitachi HDS721010 1TB 7200rpm HD

Corsair AX860 powersupply

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

I have installed the latest Nvidia driver, as well as the latest chipset driver from MSI's website

This issue has also been observed through different Nvidia driver version (consistent issue across different drivers, not just the latest).

Current graphics driver: 350.12

Chipset driver is in image attached.

Just to add a quick note, this effect has not appear in the middle of a normal session. Only from fresh startup (cold boot)

It doesn't happen on every boot. But occasionally (like once in 5 boots).

Should I wipe out the display driver and reinstall?

Also, one other question, do you guys have "fast startup" enabled (in power options) if you are using Windows 8.1?

I have it disabled currently as I was experiencing some issue before on my other laptop.

Do you think it will have any effect in this?
