Ok hello

so i currently want to build a pc that can handle gaming at 4k on ultra with 60 fps (at least for the next 2 years).

I looked around a bit and this is what i came up with and i was curious whether this stuff will even work together (i never actually built a complete pc from scratch).

i'd really appreciate some input :D

cpu: intel core i7-4790K, coolermaster v8 GTS

motherboard: Asus maximus VII hero

gpu: 2x gtx titan X

ram: 4x corsair vengeance 4GB ddr3-1600 (it says the mainboard can do ddr-3200+ what does that even mean??)

storage: WD purple 3000GB + intel 730 480GB

box: corsair graphite 780T

fans around: 2x corsair Air series af140 (+3 default fans from the box)

is there an obvious bottleneck in here?

will these components even function properly together?

and whats the deal with the ram?

overkill, underkill or decent?

thanks in advance for the replies! :)

edit: oh and i forgot that sli bridge thingy you need there are so many i have no idea... (SOLVED, motherboard seems to come with one)

edit2: I'd also appreciate thoughts on the required power supply (i am a complete noob at this)

The SLI bridge should be included with the motherboard. If it doesn't, let me know. I can try to hook you up. According to the Newegg page (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132125 ), the motherboard does come with an SLI bridge.

The purple drives might not be an amazing choice, as they are intended for 24/7 surveillance use. You could easily get away with Red, Blue, or Black for the WD drive. I would personally go Black, because you can never go back they have a 5 year warranty through WD, while the others have a 3 year warranty if I remember correctly.

Overall though, it looks pretty good. Most likely overkill, but you are looking to get 4k gaming for the next 2 years out of it (at least), so the dual Titan X's might be necessary.

Disclaimer: I'm by no means a professional builder, or a pro on the topic. Just giving my personal input and the thoughts that ran through my head.

ill look into the harddrivre (didnt pay much attention there honestly ;) ) ok good with the sli thing then thanks for your input blaze!

@techguru this setup here would cost me about 3800 swiss francs and the max i would add to that is around 1000 if it makes sense.

i looked at some comparisons on youtube and the 4790 seems to do better on most games (not all though). This part seems like a gamble even now... what i did notice though is that the other cpu tends to get hotter.

An i5 4690K is still pretty much the cpu to go with for pure gaming. If you are doing other things like Video editing/Rendering and streaming etc then an i7 4790K can help.

Hmm i'd have to look into that but in terms of raw power the 4790K seems better and going down to i5 wouldn't be much of an upgrade from my current i7-3770.

I still don't know how strong the power supply should be. I was going to go with 1000W but for the life of me I can't figure out what would be optimal.

If you have an i7 3770 why are you changing it ? You would be better just getting a new graphics card. Does your current board support SLI ?

It does support sli however the pc i am currently using is now over 3 years old and it is slowly giving up on me in terms of gaming (the cpu and gpu will randomly hit 100% load and crash my entire system for no reason). While this doesn't happen daily it's often enough to become horribly annoying.

Apart from that I am going to move out next year and planned on giving this tower to my dad, because it's still a pretty good system for basic tasks. So I decided to build a new system all together.
