Bioshock Infinite (great game Y/N)

I thought the gameplay was a bit dull, but the story and art design were fantastic. I'm not really into shooters or linear games though, so that it held my attention long enough for me to complete it is commendable.

This is basically how I feel about it. Good game, but I don't know if I'd go as far as to say that it's a great game.

I think I agree with this.

Visually the game is absolutely jaw dropping. But the magic fades pretty quickly. There were some parts of the game that just had me asking myself "why is this in here?" (the whole asylum inside a castle?) And the entire story was as cohesive as spaghetti and pop tarts.

A game/movie/book that tries to take on multiple universes is setting itself up for a failed story.

And Bioshock Infinite is no exception. After 60% of the game it was apparent the game was not going to make any sense. By the end, it was mixing science, emotions, and astronomy theory all into the last 10 minutes of game play. Spaghetti and pop tarts.

Pros

+Graphics, visual porn

+Bloom effects have been implemented properly

+Game play

+Unique concepts

+Having an AI buddy is actually kind of cool

+Rock solid performance, extremely stable game

Cons

-Story

-Sound (the game is 4 channels of surround, hardly any dialog from the center even during cut scenes, and a subwoofer is useless unless the bass is boosted)

-Subtitles and in-game mini videos do not scale well with resolution

-Predefined save points

-No central hub to jump from chapter to chapter so you can collect things you missed

Bioshock Infinite is definitely worth a play through. It really is visual porn! It's very different. I added a few pictures from actual game play. All settings high/ultra at 2560x1440. It pains me to write this mini negative review of it. I want it to be better. But that ending... And they even tried to add on with Episode 1 Burial at Sea DLC... It was totally forced. High props to the developers for recreating Rapture with 2013 visuals. But the storytellers could have done a better job.

There are far better alternatives. Far Cry 3 was released around the same time, and I think FC3 is absolutely superior. Graphics, game play, sound, guns, and story characters.

I don't think it's a great game. But it's good. It had interesting story. I think it also failed a bit with telling that story(It had like a 15minute walking around talking at the end of the game).

But what lets the game down is the gameplay. Combat in the 2 previous games were a lot better. There were lots more different mechanics that gave a lot of depth to the gameplay. And it also gave away for a better level design. Infinite was very linear. The arenas were very simple and boring(a part from very few). You could only carry around 2 guns and all the guns in the game were very standard an boring. And they gave you a portable vending machine to just give you health and ammo when you neede it, rather then making you look for it.

The combat mechanics in the game were so bad that for DLC they made the game a lot more stealth based. And it worked out a lot better. The whole game could have had an option to go stealth and it would have been a lot better.

Did you try it recently? That surprises me because I was running Crossfire R9 280 and I didn't have a single issue.

That's really interesting. I didn't have a single issue at all.

Did you try the new drivers which came out a few days ago? There were mass protests on nvidia's support forum which forced them to address some of the issues with Kepler in this driver. Worth a shot for you...
