What drive is it? Do you know what failed? If it's external there's a good chance that there's also a USB connection as well as the firewire. Even so, opening up the case will give you a plain sata drive. Try it bare in a system. If the drive is gone, there are tools that can get you a recovery.

I have no idea how to get things off of a hard drive once its crashed. Next time try 2 hard drives and run it in RAID 1 (mirror). so if one fails you still have the other.

are you abel to tear apart the drive to the plain SATA drive?

 

you can then try installing the drive into the PC and see if the drive is detected

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
