Chrome vs IE

Alright, so I use Chrome as my default browser, as most people do. My question is, when I watch a YouTube video for example in 1080p 60fps, whether or not hardware acceleration is on or off, my cpu usage is quite high. With the same video in IE, my cpu usage is minimal to almost none. Why is this? Why is IE out preforming Chrome by so much? Is there any fixes, because I want to continue to use Chrome.

probably just a bug with that build of chrome

normally it will use the gpu to do the decoding

Try using w3m browser, I haven't found anything better yet.

try a different build of chrome and see if it works better

I like chrome just for comptability and its reletive power and speed.

 

IE isn't bad, just requires sometimes lots of plugin downloads and isnt as fast sometimes, but uses FAR less resources than chrome or Firefox.

Because HTML5 likes CPU and what's your CPU ??

IE is one of the best browsers regarding how well GPU acceleration is integrated. Levering more power out of the GPU, and overall using less hardware resources.

Yep and in Spartan it's even better in my personal experience.

You can try less "heavy" builds of chrome, but really no. Chrome uses the resources it does so that it remains fast and compatible with basically everything.
