Were you using an Anti-static strap?

Also, try using 1 ram stick at a time maybe.

And the PC will only start when the led indicator on the motherboards turns off, if it doesn't consult your manual with the error code that the led is giving.

Make sure you start with your display attached to your mobo, you probably have some driver issues with your GPU

Does the motherboard stay on or does it switch itself off after a few seconds?

If you've never forgotten to plug one of those in then it's because you haven't built enough computers :D

It should be part of the PSU cable kit.

EDIT: is your PSU modular?  if not it will be there somewhere, probably hidden behind a clump of cables.

Yes it is modular but the only one I had, I needed for my GPU, unless I did something wrong

yes they are different, there should be a separate one label PCIe or similar for the gpu, the ATX one will only have 4 pins.

What video cable are you using, if it's vga it might just be loose or a dodgy cable, for anything else wait until you get the OS on and the all the drivers updated and see if that makes a difference.

We all start somewhere,  I've seen experienced builders (myself included) that overlook or misplace stuff like this, it's par for the course.
