Cutting a cloth mouse pad?

Quick and simple question: can you cut a mouse pad (in half for example) without doing any damage (top cloth doesn't peel off etc)

Really sharp pair of scissors and a lighter to burnish any stray fibers, I don't see any problem if you want to.

Realllllly sharp scissors and being very slow and careful is what you're gonna be using to do this, right?
