Hi, first time poster here but I generally watch Linus in between lectures at university.

So, I just ordered the following: NZXT S340 (does this case have all the fan connectors?)

Corsair Air Series AF120 - I believe the S340 can have an extra 2 140-120mm fans; do I need extra connectors for these? If so, which ones?

Intel i5 4690k with a Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H.

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB with a Corsair BX100 120GB.

TP-LINK TL-WN881ND - PCI.

In my current (soon-to-be old), I have 8GB Corsair Veng. RAM with an R9 270X OC Edition (MSI) and a Corsair 500/550w(?) modular PSU.

Would love some advice on what GPU to upgrade to in the future - could I crossfire my 270X or would it be better to get a singular nVidia card?

Thanks all.

CPU: i5 4690k @ 3.5GHz + Stock Cooler       GPU: MSI R9 270X                                                                  SSD: Crucial BX100 120GB              Headset: Kingston HyperX Cloud II

Case: NZXT Source 340 (Black)                      RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MhZ                HDD: 1TB WD Blue                              Mouse: Logitech G500

Welcome to the Forum.

My only concern would be making sure that the 4690k would work with the B85M. Basically, since the 4690k is Haswell Refresh and the B85m might not have an updated BIOS, you may find it won't work at all. According to http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4731it should be fine?

Sig under construction.

Apparently so. Thank you for the welcome!

I'd be able to update the BIOS anyway, right? (if I needed to?)

You're welcome.

You need a working, immediately compatible CPU to do that with, which is the problem.

Ah, yeah. Sorry, I derped. Tired.

Welcome to the forums!

What games do you plan on playing by the way?

Thanks!

I plan on playing League and CS:GO alongside osu!. But I'll probably pick up some more games soon.

Well for those games, I guess you could pop another r9 270x in there. But of course the new amd cards are on the way so it might be best to wait. With that said, going with a single stronger card might be better since not every game takes advantage of 2 gpus. Just some food for thought. So hold out for a bit. Unless you can't wait haha.

Yeah I got no problems with waiting.

I'm just upgrading from an Athlon X4 760k, old harddrive which sounds HORRIBLE when active.

Any idea on how much of a performance boost I'm going to experience?

In terms of numbers, not exactly sure on the boost. But you are going to notice it for sure. xD

Seriously, this hard drive is from an old pre-built office computer (HP) and it is awful, it basically sounds like 'crunching'?

But yeah I was on a budget when I built that. And I have/had cables all over my CPU fan, any tips for cable management?

And do you know anything in regards to the fan connectors?

Where the hard drive is concern, it's whatever. You'll see it more from your new cpu and new gpu. Hard drive operation will always be hard drive speeds. :P I'd look into a new hard drive though. A lot of cheap ones out there. Just think about saving for it in the future.

If you find it kind of long, do a sort of loop before plugging it in. Also on my mother board there were little areas I could route the wires around, so if you can try to do that, that might help with the fan cables.

Yeah, just wondering if I get all my fan cables with my purchases.

And yeah I've upgraded to a new HDD and SSD.

Any one know if I have to buy any extra fan cables?

I remember before I had to buy some molex to mobo fan header connectors.
