There is cloning software available that will transfer the operating partition to a new drive without trouble, even from mechanical disk drive to SSD

ik.it clones both the OS, and system reserved.

you could have just waited to do the clean install til you got the SSD no?

it still would have been better to do the clean install now, rather than waiting a few months until you start having issues and have to clean install anyway

If the partition was cloned properly, the drives should be completely interchangeable. Have you tried playing with the boot sequence?

i don't have the ssd yet, its in shipping

ill probbly just unplug the hdd and see if  it boots correctly after.

then delete the paritiions of the hdd

okay

when you do get the drive, though, use a partition manager to "Migrate" the OS (a feature on both Partition Master and Partition Wizard) to SSD. Has worked flawlessly for me dozens of times

You should always be able to activate your OEM key via telephone. (if it doesn't work via internet) I never had trouble with it.
I know it's a bit annoying via telephone, but i already did it so often that i don't even care anymore.
Just do a clean install of Windows, it installes with a bit different settings on SSD then it does on HDD, thats why cloning HDD on SSD is never a wise choice.

Magic jelly bean keyfinder that shiz and re install fresh.
Going from HDD to SSD works like... 40% of the time.

EDIT: You have an HP, correct? Hah, good luck cloning that any day.  Use the HP utility to create recovery DVD's and install on your SSD with those DVDs

Yes, Win7 is the first Windows to support TRIM natively.

But i wouldn't worry too much about TRIM since the Firmware based Garbage Collection is doing pretty fine already on most SSD's.

But its always nice to have TRIM working too.
