I3-4160

Ppl saying u need a i5 for gaming...bull. This cpu can handle lots of modern 1080p games.

Yep, it's very good.

But i5 is the sweetspot for the money.

It is pretty much what you need for gaming and has 4 physical cores.

Well it's starting to become a reality, most game devs are going to take advantage of more cores with the new dx12 + vulkan API's so some game experiences will need an i5 at least(quad core chip). For example ubisoft with far cry 4, the game doesn't even run if you have a dual core.

CPU: Intel 3570 GPUs: Nvidia GTX 660Ti Case: Fractal design Define R4  Storage: 1TB WD Caviar Black & 240GB Hyper X 3k SSD Sound: Custom One Pros Keyboard: Ducky Shine 4 Mouse: Logitech G500

Wtf a pentium is worse than a i3. Everyone saying that the pentium is better than i5 cause of the 4.6ghz overclock but that means everyone would buy that gpu. U love everything

lol, but a Pentium G3258 is a VERY fun CPU. i3s are non overclockable, whereas a Pentium is fun to mess around with overclocks.

But the I3 has 4 logical cores doesn't it? If that's the case then it can run Far Cry 4 and other games that need a quad core.

Wtf...logical cores. I thought there were only cores. OOooh say that explains the crappy AMD 8 logical and 1 physical cores on there cpu

I'm pretty sure you can get it to work on it however you need to change some files, and apparently it's easier with a pirated version, because ubisoft are backwards in that regard. I'd imagine a lot more games will need a quad core in the future, however by the time that happens you probably need a new GPU + CPU so getting a dual core wouldn't really be a problem for now.

i3 is a dual core with hyperthreading, so 2/4 threads are basically extra pipelines rather than extra cores.

AMDs FX series are something completely different, they can't be branded as "logical cores".

Are u an expert on ram. Is there a big difference on Dual/single channel ram? Will it affect gaming.

Not really a RAM expert no, and the difference is like 5% overall. Effect on gaming very negligable.

I want to see the i3-4130 vs i5-4440 vs i5-4690k with gtx 980s to see which one bottlenecks the 980s.

My guess the i3 bottlenecks.

Would be nice to see some true benchmarks though, only thing i found on youtube were people bencmarking with crap graphics cards that weren't pushing the CPUs to the max.

Edit:

I would love to start recomending the i3 with 980s. :D
