Popcorn Time is probably the closest thing you can find to a "Netflix for pirates," and today it's becoming even more accessible by launching an app for the iPhone and iPad. Apple hasn't approved the app through the App Store, but Popcorn Time has found a way to sneak onto the two devices anyway. It's built an installer that you run on Windows (an OS X version is supposed to arrive in about two weeks), and it'll quickly load the app onto a connected phone or tablet. Notably, a device doesn't have to be jailbroken in order to install this version of Popcorn Time, which makes this app far more accessible than the one Popcorn Time has already been offering.

APPLE HASN'T APPROVED THE APP, BUT YOU CAN STILL INSTALL IT

We were able to get the app installed and running fairly easily. On the iPad, Popcorn Time looks almost identical to its app on the desktop. It presents you with a big grid of movie posters, and tapping on one will give you more information and the option to start watching it. Pressing play means that you'll begin downloading a torrent in the background, pirating the film as you watch it. The app builds in a VPN to help hide users' identities, though it'll likely result in slowed downloads, too. Like its desktop app, the goal of Popcorn Time for iOS is to make illegally downloading movies as easy as watching something on Netflix — and that's something that the movie industry and Netflix itself have reason to fear.

Apple has long maintained control over what apps can run on its platform, and it's been able to squash apps that slip through in the past. That means it's quite possible that Popcorn Time's easy iOS installer won't be around for long — but it's also possible that it'll just find another way through in the future. It's also worth remembering that, because this app hasn't been run through Apple, you're letting an app that hasn't been checked over for security issues access to your computer and iPad. The installer can be downloaded from Popcorn Time's website.

Popcorn Time is also using today's release to celebrate its one year anniversary. If the app wasn't enough, it also made this weird animation featuring popcorn people and movie references:

I think its interesting, obisully still pirating,
most of the videos are sourced from YIFI,
only + to this i see, is netflix stepping thier game up.

This shit is not just pirating its also illegal distribution of copyrighted content (because of the torrent style system)... stay away from it guys. While merely downloading pirated files is a grey area in most countries, distributing it is a whole different story.

The Windows version I used a while ago was so bad. I couldn't  rewind or skip the annoying intro of The House of Cards. The quality on most series was 720p or sometimes even 480p. I rather just use regular trackers. What happened to uTorrent streaming option anyways?

You do know that you're uploading the stuff you've watched to other viewers while streaming it right? Which is much more frowned upon than just streaming.

Do you have a VPN subscription such as HotSpot Shield or similar? Unless the VPN itself is outright blocked, then you should be totally fine for using that in areas that block Netflix.

As a side benefit, it also gives you access to different Netflix Regions, such as UK and Canada (Since it seems you're American). It also gives you access to US Netflix when abroad. It's a grey area, but Netflix unofficially supports the use of VPN's and have publicly stated they have no intention of ever blocking them.

Most popular torrents for TV Series are 720p anyway. The 1080p versions aren't even available in all shows, and are usually much less seeded.

Popcorn Time isn't about ultimate quality, it's about convenience. Even their 1080p movies are usually YIFY releases that are 2-3GB tops (Occasionally higher, but rarely).

If you want top quality, you're downloading Blu-Ray rips at 8-12GB a pop. If you want convenience, then you're not gonna care about the quality differences that much anyway.

That was a false news report. I regularly (As in, daily) use a VPN to access US Netflix from Canada. There were some accounts being blocked, but that was for general fraud reasons, not strictly because they used a VPN.

Again, if you want 5.1, you're likely going after the Blu-Ray rips with True HD or DTS HD.

Though some of the Popcorn Time releases do have 5.1 surround (Though it's generally older DD or DTS, not HD lossless).

This happens with torrents anyway. It's the way the technology works. Besides, I would not worry about it too much. Are they gonna prosecute the millions and millions of people using it from different parts of the world? I don't think so.

It seems that Netflix did just update their Terms of Service agreement that clearly gives them the power to ban accounts via VPN, but it is extremely unlikely that they will actively enforce it. It would literally be killing off a large amounts of their user base.

I would personally cancel my Netflix account if they blocked VPN.

Easy there, cupcake. Just letting OP know that his title had a typo in it so he could fix it. It's that simple.
