Yeah theres a million threads like this but I have some preferences that I'd like to stick with. I currently have Astro A50 Wireless headphones and they are great, but I feel like I could get something much much better.

I do a fair amount of gaming, and I play Battlefield competitively (I try to do well, not actually in a league or anything)

My preferences:

- large ear cups

- avoid USB

- no preference on color

- no mic

- wired

Basically I want HD598 similar performance but at a slightly lower price. I would probably also need some kind of amp or something like that so I can have a dial to control the volume. I refuse to use the one built into Windows.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be very helpful.

Gonna follow this topic, because I need the answer myself :P

Also, remember to follow your topics!

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

what about the audio technica ATH-M50x. I use them and they are amazing, also a bit cheaper than the hd598s. I'm no audiophile but I think the sound is balanced and you can really pick up the details.

If you have Astro A50, then I suppose you can spend $300 on another headphone. Phillips fidelio X2 is my recommendation. Be quick though, it gets sold out super quickly

Audio technica M50X is pretty over-priced at $190 and hence the price / performance is pretty meh or below average

Compare the M50Xs with Beats By Dre and your commend is false :P

On the syba dac, I own one, it is great for having a knob for volume and I used it to drive headset and powered speakers at the same time because I'm too lazy to swap.  But you may want to spend an extra 30bucks for a fiio dac/amp if you want a little more volume/bass(the syba has eq switch also) or the ability to use with future headsets you buy that are harder to drive and need amp power. A dac isn't that necessary if your soundcard is fine.

For gaming open headsets typically give you better 3D positioning for gaming but can lack bass. The new AKG K553 Pro is reported to have good build quality, good bass and is designed with a psuedo-open design that should give good 3D positioning. That being said I haven't heard them so you'll just have to hit reviews like this one. Also because they are new the pricing is hit or miss by $100 :/

Headphone/Mic/Amp's attached.

please tell me you're just joking

I owned the first solo they're worse than 20$ cans but if we don't give companies a chance to improve and a chance at redemption than we are unfair to them I didn't say they are the best thing ever I need more time to say that all I said is that they are solid and that is already X30 the first ten solo.
