Forum's search function

Go to solution Solved by cloclo8003,

I think you just have trouble understanding what this actually is :)

Basically on google you can search for something and show the results of a website only by adding site:example.com in front of what you're looking for. This can be useful for websites that don't have a built-in search feature, such as this forum. This searchbar basically does it for you. When you search for something, it uses google and adds site:linustechtips.com in front of it.

Hello,

I saw some people mentioning to use the forum's search function before posting new threads to avoid posting stuff that is allready here. But I have no idea where to find that function. The only thing I see is the search bar for google and view new content button under it. I really have no idea where search function for the forum is. Can anybody please explain.

If I understand correctly it should be like the search for google bar, only that it is for the forum.

Guys, guys, he knows where it is. Come on, he's not an idiot. What he wants to know is if there is a search feature in the forum, not a search bar that uses Google.

And to answer your question, no, that's how it works, it uses google and shows results only on the forum. There is no search feature built-in to the forum, but google search that only shows results from the forum works just as well

EDIT: I guess you think this is a normal google search bar. I cleared things up in another post below.
