Doing a format..

Hey guys! So my pc is not really starting up. It does start, but it lags very much. So I'm thinking of Doing a format and a new Windows install, 7 specifically. So just asking if there is any way to do a format without starting up the pc. It would really help. If not,then just tell me the.nail procedures. thanks.

when you reinstall windows from a CD it will let you do a format.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I want to format before putting the Windows CD. Is it possible at all.

You want to do a format without powering on your PC?  That is not possible.  You could format your drive by booting from another pc though I think.

To answer question, No, there is no way to format a hard drive with out the computer on that it is in.

 

But I have to ask, because there might be a better way than a complete OS reinstall.

 

When your PC is laggy, does the hard disk have constant activity?
