Pre Post Testing a PC with watercooling heatsink

How do i preform a pre post pc test (before actually putting it into chassey) with a h100i corsair heat sink with thermal paste!? when it apply to the CPU during the pre test, will the cpu be covered in the thermal paste and when its time to put it into the chassey and actually build the pc, wont the thermal paste already on the CPU interfere and make the CPU "messy"? I am just extremely confused on how to do a pretest then reinstall the cpu later on with the thermal paste residue from the pretest.

Thanks for your help!!!!

Wipe off the thermal paste after the test with preferably ispropyl alcohol, then just add more before installing in the chassis
