VM resolution change

I have setup a VM for Windows 10 and the resolution is crap (1600x1200) I try to change it inside of te Windows 10 VM but there is not my default screen resolution (1366x768) I try o change it but it skips right past that resolution.

Did you install the vm ware tools? A balloon should pop up asking to install it whenever you set up a new machine. Do that and reboot, it should recognize your resolution properly.

Do I install VM Ware tools on my Vm OS or on my main os

Sorry my bad, when you said vm I thought you were using vmware in which case what I said would work but I have no idea how to get it to work with virtualbox. The alternative for virtualbox is called VirtualBox Guest Additions. It is installed on the virtual machine and not the host.

You don't need vmware tools, that's for another virtualization software, I had it confused. See above for what you really need.

I have installed Guest Additions and the screen still has a bad resolution 

Can you enter fullscreen mode and have the VM change to fit, or can you resize the window and have the VM change resolution?

I go into Windows Settings and try to change it and it wont work, I have even resided the windows of the VM and still the same
