Hey guys,

I've tried Steam support, Reddit, and various other forums so i come to you for help. a month or so ago, i lent my laptop to my relative and now TF2 doesnt work anymore. He claims to have not done anything, but there is no other event that would have caused this problem, If I press the game, the screen goes black. Afterwards it returns to my desktop. I can still play other valve gmes (Dota for instance), so i dont think that it has to do with valve itself (it could be, but im not sure). I have done all of the things that steam asks (all here https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8676-EFLX-7453 ), yet still no results.

Please help.

Thanks,

camchanlax

Some obligatory questions:

- have you tried rebooting your system? (I suppose so, because you have had the problem for longer)

- Have you tried verifying the game cache? (right click on the game in your library > Properties > click that button.

- Have you tried launching it windowed? (right click on the game in your library > Properties > Launch settings and type "-windowed" )

Hello,

I had previously done the first two, and i have just tried the third. The game still remains unplayable. Upon connecting my laptop to a dual monitor set up, i have noticed that the game does in fact momentarily open as opposed to refusing to open.

Even though i have already tried this, i decided to do it again. The loading bar races until the 88/89 mark where it stays for a few minutes. Finally goes to 100, but the game is still auto-closing.

Verifying game files doesn't always work. I'd suggest deleting it completely and then downloading it again. Also see if your GPU drivers are up to date.
