CPU and Motherboard

For my newest gaming PC build, I Am considering using the Intel i7-4790k Quad-Core processor, and the ASUS X99 Deluxe Motherboard. However I am usure how to check the Compatability of this CPU with this motherboard. This is a significant part of the build so I want to make sure I get it right! Is the Intel i7-4790k CPU compatable with the ASUS X99 deluxe motherboard? Any replies and suggestions are helpful! Thanks!

What exactly do you mean by a z97?

z97 is a chipset, like x99. But the 4790k will only work on motherboards with socket LGA1150. So something like the asus z97 deluxe, will work, but pricey though, or a gigabyte z97-ud5h-bk.

4790k = lga1150 socket,

But the chipset is z97. Don't get a z87

Ok, that does make sense, in order to use that CPU, I will have to find another motherboard that is compattable. Thanks!

what games do you play?

Games such as Tomb Raider, Battlefield 4, Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor, Minecraft (Lol), and I want to be able to have steam on there also. The CPU that is compatible with the X99 deluxe motherboard is over $1000 US dollars on its own!

i think this motherboard might be a little overkill and pricy but this is the motherboard i am saving for
