Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

Even for a workstation, are you sure there's not that much of a difference?

nope

Linus have made a comparison of DDR4 and DDR3

they perform the same

Workstation or gaming rig?

Please provide budget, location...do you need peripherals included or monitor or OS.

DDR4 is so far for the X99

and for the upcoming Skylake CPUs

but now they are goldy expensive

stick to DDR3 and Z97/H97 for now

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

yeah sorry about that typo, not really sure yet, should be what i'm already doing and then some pretty intense gaming (maybe) which should be up to the graphic cards then so that seems like a different topic I guess, maybe some rendering and things like that

if you are not in a hurry to build the PC

wait for the R9 390X GPUs

if not go for the GTX980s

I can wait, thanks for the card ideas, I'm having a look at some ASUS motherboards, just to be sure - the amount of "K" display depends on the graphic cards right? There's this z97 WS that says 4k native, but since it says native I guess that just means directly from the motherboard or something? Like I would be able to get up to 5k or more with graphic cards right?
