So I ave a 7870 XT and I want to get a 760, but once I get the 760 I wont know what to do with the 7870 XT.

I want to keep it but can I Install an nVidia card and have it as a dedicated PhysX card or do I have to have two nVidia GPU's?

If I have to get two nVidia GPU's will my only solution to my situation be to run them in Hybrid?(Heard I had to download an old driver for it to work)

TIA

Sell the 7870 XT, use that money to get a really nice GTX 770 or GTX 780 if you stretch the budget. You don't need two NVIDIA GPUs to have a dedicated PhysX card, but a GTX 760 outperforms or equals the 7870 XT by itself and it is way too overkill to use as a dedicated PhysX card. What I basically mean is, 7870 XT + GTX 760 as PhysX < GTX 760 alone (in terms of practicality). Also, if you decide to sell the 7870 XT, you can get yourself an even better card with the GTX 770.

The 7870 XT actually is faster than a 670 once overclocked & almost as fast as a 7970, so a 760 it's not much of an upgrade.

I'm not trying to upgrade. i just want to get a different card. I play my games in 1080p so it's not like I need an upgrade. the 760 is a perfect card for people who play on 1080p.

I would do that but, see the problem is, I have no one to buy my 7870 XT.

The reason why people usually want a different card is to improve performance, so this is an unusual thing to do.

Why do you want to upgrade ? just for PhysX ?

If you list it on eBay, you could get a fairly good price for it. How much are you willing to sell it at? At the right price, I'd be interested in buying it. Even if you sell it on eBay for only $150, which is unlikely (you'd probably get at least $180), and saved up an extra $250 from not buying the GTX 760, you have at least $400 to get a GTX 770.

well I payed $250 for it, and I want to get at least $200-$220 for it. It doesn't have dust on it or anything, it's like new. I clean my rig once a week.

Also, I think the 770 is a bit of an overkill for me, how would I go about getting a 670 or  660Ti 3GB?

Have you tried enabling PhysX & offloading it to your CPU ?

I'm not familiar with hawken, but it can be done on almost any game that supports physx.

UPDATE: scratch that, I've just read that the PhysX implementation in this game is very intensive & even a dedicated 650 Ti PhysX card struggles.

^^Well said...760s price to performance to other existing cards = poop.

Don't really know whats the fuss about physx its just some particles not like it draws random breakdowns of walls or explosions that tear earth or road apart.
