I meant to post this 6 months ago but forgot.  Wasp-Sting is my second build and is copied from Linus's Better $2000 Gaming ans Silent Workstation PC although I changed out every part!  Hopefully you will see it was inspired by his selection and video.

The main changes I made was to go for a Micro ATX format so the Fractal Design Define R4 was changed to a Fractal Design Define Mini which is an awesome case to work with.  The ASUS Sabertooth Z87 became an ASUS Gryhon Z97 (without the cooling armor) and the chip is an Intel i7-4790K Devils Canyon. I swapped the Seasonic G550 for a Seasonic Platinum 660w supply as I use this computer for my work and wanted a stable quiet power supply that had scope for lots extra disks.  At the moment it has only a Samsung 840 Evo 250Gb and a Seagate Baracuda 2Tb but on my desk I have a WD green 2Tb and another Seagate I use to swap large datasets (videos of traffic flows) with others.

Memory is 16GB G.Skill Trident DDR3 1600 because it was on special and the heatsink is the Noctua U12S.  I wanted a U14S but it doesn't fit in the case by a few mm.  The U12S fits but you can't use the side fan position on the Fractal case. OK for me as that side is nearest me and I dont want the noise.  The picture below shows the Noctua brown and beige like an old kitchen from 1974 but I dont have a window so it is fine for me.  For graphics I bought a 2nd hand MSI R9-280X from a miner who bought it but didn't use it as the whole mining thing was over by the time he was ready to build. I like the twin Frozr cooler on it and find it really quiet mostly. I had planned to also get a Quadro for opening 2d cad files but I have found I dont need it the Radeon does it just fine.

The whole computer makes very little noise until you really load it up and then the fans all kick in.  But that is only when I am shooting something after work so that noise is a bonus.

All in all this is a great computer for what I do and I hope you can see it was inspired by the Linus video even if I changed everything.

I thought you was going to say how much it hurts.

I was wrong

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

I fail to understand this whole naming of the rig.

I only name them to keep track of what components are in what machine. Now a car.... THAT is a sexy machine that you can get personal with... Ya' know, getting dirty in all the lubed up areas....  ;)  :P  :D

I thought you was going to say how much it hurts.

I was wrong

I'm not gonna lie, I only clicked because I thought I was going to see a BRUTAL wasp sting all swollen up.

Sorry the naming is a bit tragic.  I am a fan the Saxon Stories http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Saxon_Stories. Uhtred has a big sword is called Serpent Breath which he uses in open fighting. His little sword is called Wasp Sting and he uses that one when he fights against the Vikings in a shield wall. My ATX was Serpent Breath so the name of the mATX had to be Wasp Sting.
