Computer suddenly using 70%+ memory without anything running

Go to solution Solved by Baeyeon,

I restarted but it didn't fix it. What actually fixed it was system restoring O.o Thanks everyone!

My memory for some reason is constantly above 70%, and when CS:GO is open, my CPU is 100% and my memory is 95%+. Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help!

Run a Malwarebytes scan just incase its some sort of secret mining virus. If its no then check if your motherboard has a Realtek LAN controller as thoose drivers are well known to have memory leaks (so update it).

Are you using Norton? My laptop came preloaded with it and it was very power hungry. I uninstalled it and the laptop stopped crashing and slowing down. Also, I might sound like a smart Alec, but have you tried going to Task Manager and clicking More Details at the bottom left corner (if you haven't yet done so) and then going to Processes and finding the most power-hungry program, under the memory column? That might solve it because it did for me.

No seriously, guys, turn it off and on again. It will fix it. This is just a stuck process that didn't shut down correctly.

You can also use task manager and "show system processes" and look for the one that is using tons of CPU and just end it.

But restarting is easier if you dont want to mess with the processes...

Go to your task manager and sort Processes by CPU % and see with the highest value at the top and you can find out whats causing it. I have a similar problem. When i open my Mail App the communication services uses 75%-90%. I t might be something similar for you.

The op's problem was fixed, so I think it is fine to ask, I have to restart all 2 to 3 days in Widows 8, because of that error. Normally I could leave the PC on for weeks and this wouldn't happen. Any idea what is wrong? Shoupd I make a new thread with screenshots of the task manager?

find the process thats getting stuck using all your CPU, google it, find the parent program of that process, reinstall that program
