For only short home video editing a 4690k would be just fine. The i7 is only really beneficial when you do lots of video editing and rendering. Also, a better gpu with the money you save from the cpu would be much more beneficial for gaming.

Rather get an i5 k-series cpu and a 290 if its in your budget. And do you really need that case? If you want a good case take a look at the enthoo pro (which is a full sized case) or the define r4/5 (midi tower)

For gaming? You dont need an i7 and your GPU is shit.

Invest in a better GPU and downgrade to an i5.

The Cosmos II seems to be the only available case on PCPartPicker. And it will eat up most of that budget.

The i5 to i7 jump isn't necessary if you're just editing home-made camcorder videos.

However, if you really want it, it is what it is. Luckily for you, there is a Micro Center in Brooklyn. They have pretty damn fantastic CPU and motherboard pricing, so an i7 and board from Micro Center will cost as much as an i5 and the same board from let's say Newegg.

I cannot find anyone who still sells the Cosmos SE, so I replaced it.

You have a fair bit of cash to play around with, so I saw it fit to do an i7 with 16GB RAM, dual GTX 970s and such. You can pull one GTX 970 or replace them both with 290Xes if you want to go that way.

To be honest, if this was a purely gaming build, it would suck. Around 30 percent of a gaming build goes to a GPU. That means a GTX 980 for you.

Sound: Custom one pros, Audioengine A5+ with S8 sub.

Alright, sounds good. I also saw you already have a Z97 Ranger? You can use the money freed up by that to get a copy of Windows. I would also recommend maybe getting a single GTX 980 instead, this way you have a more open upgrade path in the future.
