GTX 970 SLI Far Cry 4

blu4

Hey,

I have this very weird problem- I am rocking dual Gigabyte 970 G1 on a 4K monitor. I tried playing FC4 in 4K and it does around 50-55fps but microstutters a LOT. The details are ultra and so on. When I turn it down to 1440p and keep the details as they are, it runs buttersmooth 60FPS locked. Even if I turn down the details, it still microstutters. I have the latest drivers and most of the fixes i've tried such as 2-3 buffering. Thanks

My specs:

4820k

p9x79 pro

16gb ram

gigabyte g1 970

You could be hitting your vram limit at 4k on ultra. anything past 3.5 vram will cause your game to lag really bad at 4k. It could be that because your running SLI it could be that.Make sure you have Far Cry 4 latest Patch. I also heard that Far Cry did have problems when it came out with bugs etc etc. I don't no if that's the same now.

970 SLI aint the best at 4k anything below that its great.

I'm not gitting the limit- it stays at 3.3GB all the time.

I had issues like that with both GTX 780's and GTX 660's. The game is a pain in the arse lol

In that case if you hitting below 3.5 then its either just the SLI or the game. In that situation there is FECK all you can do about it until either they fix the game with an improved patch, or a new set of drivers from Nvidia might solve it. Either way you will not be able to solve this problem until then.

Nice, I see the 4K goodness is not yet known to companies like Ubisoft!

Got to remember 4k is still pretty new. Hardware and some software has not caught up yet. 2 years down the line that might change. Give it time.

Well, other games runs just fine at 4K ~60fps- even the new AAA ones. Alien Isolation, AC Rouge, Crysis 3 (not new but demanding), metro last light, shadow of mordor.. It's just games from Ubi that are poorly optimize (with an exception of AC rouge which is a surprise).

If you were expecting 970's to rock 4K you were misled in the first place. They are NOT 4K cards, at all.

They are in SLI. Do you have first hand experience with them in 4K? I do- they run games at 4K no problem with few exeptions.
